The Short Answer:
Root sprays (like Keratherapy) are basically temporary colour sprays that darken the scalp or cover grey roots. They look flat because they’re colouring, not thickening.
Toppik fibers are tiny keratin particles that cling to your existing hair strands, making them look denser and fuller.
Quick rule:
• Covering greys or root regrowth? → Root Spray
• Want thicker-looking hair or to conceal thinning? → Fibers
Comparison: Root Spray vs Fibers
| Feature | Root Spray | Toppik Fibers |
|---|---|---|
| Best For | Covering Gray Roots | Adding Volume/Density |
| Texture | Light spray coating | Dry, keratin fibers |
| Look | Subtle scalp coverage (2D colour) | Thicker Hair (3D) |
The "Double Duty" Trick: Many of our clients use both. They use a root spray first to color their gray roots, let it dry, and then apply Toppik on top to add the texture and fullness that the spray lacks.
Common Selection Questions
Which is messier?
Sprays tend to be messier as they can stain fingers and foreheads during application. Fibers are dry and can be wiped away easily if they land on the skin.
Is Toppik cheaper than spray?
Per application, they are similar. However, a large bottle of Toppik (27.5g) typically lasts longer (2+ months) than a can of root spray (3-4 weeks), making fibers a better value for daily users.
