Toppik Quesions and Answers

Can I Use Toppik With Hair Oils?

The Short Answer: Yes, but the order of application is non-negotiable. You must apply your liquid styling products (serums, leave-in conditioners, or treatments) first. Allow the product to fully absorb and the hair to dry completely. Only then should you apply Toppik Fibers. If you apply wet products on top of fibers, the moisture may cause the keratin to be clumpy.

The Physics of Clumping

Hair fibers rely on static electricity to separate and stand up. Any wet residue creates a heavy barrier that blocks this static charge.

  • Correct Routine: Shower -> Apply Serums/Oil -> Blow Dry/Air Dry -> Apply Toppik -> FiberHold Spray.
  • The Risk: If your hair is too damp or sticky, the fibers will cling to the product residue rather than the hair shaft, reducing volume and looking patchy.

Pro Tip: To ensure your hair is perfectly primed, use the "Cool Shot" button on your hair dryer for the final 30 seconds. If your hair feels cold to the touch, it still contains moisture. If it feels room temperature, it is truly dry and ready for fibers.

Common Styling Questions

Can I use leave-in conditioner?

Yes, following the same rule: Apply conditioner, let it dry, then apply fibers. Fibers adhere best to hair that feels "dry" to the touch.

Do serums ruin the static charge?

Excessive heavy product can dampen the charge. If you have naturally oily hair or use heavy creams, using a dry shampoo before applying fibers can actually help them hold better by removing the slick barrier.
