Hair Fiber Question and Answer

Can I Use Toppik With Hair Oils?

The Short Answer: Yes, but the order of application is non-negotiable. You must apply your hair oils (like Argan, Moroccan, or Minoxidil serum) first. Allow the product to fully absorb and the hair to dry completely. Only then should you apply Toppik Fibers. If you apply oil on top of fibers, the moisture will cause the keratin to clump into mud.

The Physics of Clumping

Hair fibers rely on static electricity to separate and stand up. Oil creates a heavy, wet barrier.

  • Correct Routine: Shower -> Apply Oil/Minoxidil -> Blow Dry/Air Dry -> Apply Toppik -> FiberHold Spray.
  • The Risk: If your hair is too greasy, the fibers will stick to the oil rather than the hair shaft, reducing volume.

Pro Tip: If you use Minoxidil (Rogaine) twice a day, apply your morning dose at least 30 minutes before you plan to style your hair with fibers. This gives the liquid time to evaporate so the fibers have a dry surface to bond to.

Common Styling Questions

Can I use leave-in conditioner?

Yes, following the same rule: Apply conditioner, let it dry, then apply fibers. Fibers adhere best to hair that feels "dry" to the touch.

Does oil ruin the static charge?

Excessive oil can dampen the charge. If you have naturally very oily hair, using a dry shampoo before applying fibers can actually help them hold better by removing the slick barrier.
