Hair Fiber Questiona and Answer

Can I Use Hairspray With Hair Fibers?

The Short Answer: Yes, hairspray is actually recommended to lock Toppik Fibers in place, but the order of application is critical. You must apply the fibers to dry hair first, pat them down, and then apply hairspray last as a finishing step. Never apply fibers onto wet hairspray, as the moisture will cause the keratin to clump and look patchy.

Standard Spray vs. FiberHold

While you can use drugstore hairspray, there is a chemical difference:

  • Regular Hairspray: Designed to freeze hair in stiff shapes. Can sometimes make fibers look "crusty."
  • FiberHold Spray: Formulated specifically to bond keratin to hair without stiffening. It adds a natural shine that mimics the texture of real hair, making the fibers undetectable.

Styling Hack: For maximum volume, use the "Sandwich Method." Apply a texturizing spray to the roots, let dry, apply Toppik Fibers, and then seal with a light mist of FiberHold Spray.

Common Styling Questions

Can I use mousse or gel?

Yes, but the hair must be completely dry before adding fibers. Apply your gel/mousse, blow dry or air dry until 100% dry, and then apply Toppik. Fibers repel against wet styling products.

Does spray make it waterproof?

It makes it water-resistant (rain/sweat), but not waterproof (swimming). The spray creates a film that prevents moisture from breaking the static bond, but it will still wash out with shampoo.
